Alexander Pedals are designed by Matthew Farrow and a group of trusted players, builders, and friends. Matthew has been building guitar pedals since the late 1990s, first with Pharaoh Amplifiers, and now with Disaster Area Designs. Matthew has designed some of the most innovative effects units on the market, including some big names he's not allowed to tell you about. Alexander Pedals was started for two reasons - to make great tones, and to do good. The great tones part you probably have some idea about. As for doing good, Alexander Pedals donates a portion of the profits from every pedal sold to charity, whether you buy from us or our dealers. Matthew's younger brother Alex passed away in 1987 of a form of cancer called neuroblastoma. Alexander Pedals honors his memory by helping in the fight to end childhood cancer.

AllPedal, based in Kentucky, USA, is dedicated to crafting top-quality, handmade guitar pedals that inspire musicians of all styles. Known for collaborations with artists like Steel Panther and Jeff Loomis, AllPedal combines innovative design, rugged construction, and amp-like tone shaping. Ah, Portland, Oregon. Seems like they all come from Portland, right? Well Benson Amps did not start as a pedal company. It started with - you guessed it! - guitar amps...Christopher Benson's story of how he developed the Monarch, his first amp design, is a fascinating story of the pursuit of tone! Luckily for us all, he decided at some point to look into pedals, as well! While there is a limited lineup in the Benson pedal range, this is more than made up for in quality of tone. Each pedal that is put into your chain will tantilize your ears, whether it be the preamp that is the latest spawn of his original design, the revolutionary germanium fuzz, or its cousin, the germanium boost. Those looking for pure tone (no other words describe it better) will definitely become big fans of Mr. Benson.

Starting out as a guitar design company, Philippe Herndon turned his attention to making original circuit pedals to see what happens. What happened was a plethora of fantastic sounding stompboxes with truly original sounds. While paying homage to, and being inspired by, the developers that got us to where we are, Caroline prefers to create new sounds, new choices for musicians and bring features you might not expect. We love the sweet seductive lo-fi responses and unique voicing options they pump out and the industry seems to agree. These pedals can be heard on records from Linkin Park, Chris Cornell (RIP), Rival Sons, Wilco, many more.

Chasing sound. That is what happens endlessly inside the offices and studios of Oregon's most famous pedal builders, Catalinbread Mechanisms of Music. This brings about questions of how they find this sound. There is the Belle Epoch, which vaulted them onto many pedalboards with its true to the original reproduction of the Echoplex. The Dirty Little Secret brings a Marshall Stack into any set up you have going. Then there is Topanga, which so closely emulates that gorgeous drip of the Fender outboard spring reverb. Crazy Tube Circuits was founded in Athens by Christos Ntaifotis-a super friendly and passionate gear lover known for his inventive spirit. Driven by a love for vintage tube tones and classic amps, Christos hand-builds each pedal with a personal touch. His approachable nature and creativity have made Crazy Tube Circuits a beloved name among musicians worldwide.

Electronic Audio Experiments is an exploration in sound and texture via electronics. Founded in 2015 by guitarist and electrical engineer John Snyder, EAE focuses primarily on stompboxes for electric guitar and bass, with occasional ventures into amplification and synthesis. Their products are imagined and assembled in a small workshop in Boston, MA by a close-knit team with strong ties to the world of audio. We offer a mix of unique, purpose-built designs and homages to forgotten circuits of the past—all engineered to exceed our high standards of quality and enrich the sounds of scrappy touring bands and discerning studio artists alike.

First look at Fairfield's industrial looking boxes and you really wonder what it is about. No flash, no paint, just grey boxes. But these are not your regular classic pedal mods. Every one of these pedals is original in the true sense of the word. The original circuit designs inside are the works of art that you might expect on the outside. Each design takes a pedal that most people consider unchangeable and turns it into something you never imagined you would get out of a guitar pedal. From a fuzz that has a frequency sweep to a ring modulator with wave modification, and a K-Field modulator (what is that???)...if you want new sounds from your gear, this is where to turn.

Founded by Michael Fuller in 1991, Fulltone quickly set the standard for boutique pedals with hand-built effects like the iconic OCD. After a brief closure, Fulltone relaunched in 2024 with Jackson Audio, now producing in Nashville and Texas. The brand remains celebrated for its classic tones and American craftsmanship.

GFI system pedals are designed and built by Henry Widjaja, with the help of a small team of engineers and techies. They started out in 2010 designing and building analog pedals and began diving into the realm of digital effects by 2013. Beginning in 2016 a close friend of Henry's, Yonas Darja and his brother Jesse Darja came on board to take on the management and marketing roles. They strive to bring innovative and exciting products that capture the hearts and imagination of guitar players and musicians for many years to come.

Greer Amps began when Nick Greer, frustrated by unreliable pedals, built his first effect on his father’s pool table in Georgia. With help from his dad and close friends, Nick grew Greer Amps into a boutique brand known for hand-built pedals and amps that blend vintage inspiration with rugged reliability. Despite global acclaim and awards, Greer Amps remains a small, passionate team in Athens, Georgia, focused on honest craftsmanship and the joy of creating great tone for musicians everywhere

Maxon’s story begins in 1960s Japan, where a small team of sonic dreamers at Nisshin Onpa set out to reimagine guitar tone. After inventing the legendary Ibanez Tube Screamer, Maxon quietly became the secret weapon behind countless classic records. Today, Maxon pedals are still hand-built in Japan with rare vintage parts, blending old-school magic with modern reliability. ProCo Sound started in the mid-1970s in Kalamazoo, Michigan-a town buzzing with music and a bit of bohemian spirit. In a rat-infested basement, engineer Scott Burnham set out to build the ultimate distortion pedal, accidentally creating the legendary RAT after a happy resistor mishap. What began as a quirky, hand-built experiment quickly became a global icon, beloved by everyone from garage punks to arena rockers for its raw power and unmistakable bite. Portland is a hotbed in the boutique pedal world. Kind of like Seattle back in the day. And the Soundgarden of the pedal world is Spaceman Effects. They are not the most popular, most widely known, but their fanbase is as loyal as they come. On top of that, their pedals are deep and introspective, pushing you to the limit of what you can do with the guitar. Each one of them starts with an effect that pretty much everyone knows, and expands the possibilities of what you could ever imagine getting out of that effect. Each new release pushes the envelope and leaves you pining for the next one. Reminds us so much of Soundgarden, but at least one of us is a huge fan :).

We met founder Chris Tsakalis through the Aussie Bushfire charity initiative that ended up, along with helping significantly in contributing to the disaster relief, showcasing the selflessness of the many great people in the industry, including Chris Tsakalis. But Tsakalis Audioworks has been impressing musicians for several years already. Chris started out just repairing gear and developing what was to become the Gravity Spot. Now, with multiple pedals recognized and recommended by Premier Guitar and Vintage Guitar, among others, and a growing artist database, Tsakalis is set to become a huge force in the handmade pedal world!

VS Audio is a boutique pedal company based in Athens, Greece, founded by Panos Sotiropoulos and Costas Theoharis. The brand began in 2011, sparked by a shared passion for music and guitar effects, and quickly earned a reputation for innovation-such as developing one of the first analog delays with tap tempo. Officially rebranded as VS Audio Effects in 2016, the company hand-builds a range of high-quality pedals, including popular models like the Royal Flush dual overdrive and the BlackBird, which captures classic Brownface and Blackface amp tones. The guys at Xtonebox rely on top notch materials and high quality components. While their range is not broad, you can bet your house that what they do, they do with intent. Zachary Vex is one of the pioneers of the boutique pedal industry, and the inventor of some of the most highly revered and sought after creations. Many boutique pedal makers make copies of classic pedals such as the Big Muff, FuzzFace, etc. ZVEX is so legendary that his pedals actually fit in that category!
